Call for JoCAT Co-Editors – 2023 

Description of Role 

The Journal of Creative Arts Therapies (JoCAT) is the open access peer-reviewed publication of ANZACATA in association with the School of Social Sciences, Western Sydney University.

JoCAT’s editorial team is looking to find editors with a critical/decolonial perspective who are well-versed in mixed-method and quantitative approaches. The team also wishes to increase its diversity to better reflect the geographical and cultural scope of ANZACATA and diversity of its members and of JoCAT readers. We welcome potential editors from First Nations/Tangata Whenua and ANZACATA’s Asian regions. 

The successful applicants will work closely with an experienced team – chief editor A/Prof Sheridan Linnell; co-editors Dr Stacey Bush, Dr Catherine Camden-Pratt, and Dr Deborah Green; podcast editor Amanda Levey; and Vic Segedin who coordinates and produces the online publication. Editor positions are on a voluntary unpaid basis. 

The role of co-editor:

• To attend and participate in Editorial team meetings by zoom on a regular six weekly basis and as needed

• To read and assess submissions when first submitted

• To suggest and network with existing and potential peer reviewers 

• To steward a selection of submissions as they progress through the review and production process, by: 

– making editing suggestions at various stages of the process

– suggesting and networking with existing and potential peer reviewers

– assessing copyedited manuscripts

– proofing final copy prior to and post-proofread.

Skills and experience required:

• Published in a scholarly journal

• Reviewed for a scholarly journal

• Experience with research literature, preferably in the field of creative arts therapies and otherwise in a related discipline 

• Strong English literacy

• Strong computer literacy and experience in O365, especially in the use of tracked changes and other Microsoft editing features, and with Dropbox or similar shared file system

• Experience with APAv7 referencing

• Must be able to work to deadlines and in a multi-country team

• Membership with ANZACATA. 

Desirable:

• Previous editorial and/or publishing experience

• Literacy in one or more community languages of the Asia-Pacific region other than English.
